What is F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers about?
The story of a young man who falls in love with a Thai girl and is forced to leave her behind during a military coup, Hana Yori Dango tells the story of an idealistic young man who yearns to find happiness in another country. After years of searching, he finally meets her and falls in love with her, but is forced to leave her behind when the military takes over.
Netflix’s Meteor Garden 2018 is a modern take on the classic manga story of Hana Yori Dango. If you’re looking for a similar vibe, you can watch the anime version of Japanese Hana Yori Dango on Crunchyroll.
The story of F4 Thailand is about four boys who are the stars of their school and the envy of those around them. They have everything: money, good looks, privilege, and power. But they also have a lot of heart. They care for each other and for their school, and they work hard to make sure that everyone is happy.
A girl who isn’t from within upsets the applecart, clueless about the rules and not interested in knowing them. She’s just there to go to school as under the radar as possible. Until she clashes with the leader of F4 which begins a series of battles that eventually shows glimmers of romance.
In the first episode of Season 1, we follow the story of a young woman named Emily (Shannon Purser) as she deals with the aftermath of a car accident that leaves her family struggling. Emily must come to terms with her role in the accident and find ways to move on from it, while also trying to build a new life for herself.
Has F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers been renewed for Season 2?
Ren’s future is in question after he makes a shocking confession in the finale. We’ve seen that he has a beautiful future ahead, but we don’t know if that includes another story. Could this be the beginning of a new season for F4 Thailand?
In a tale with multiple sequels, our protagonist, 5-star general Thyme, must overcome additional challenges in order to achieve his ultimate goal. For example, in Taiwan’s Meteor Garden (2001), where Thyme’s counterpart, Dao Ming Si, travels abroad and loses his memory; Gorya’s equivalent, Dong Shancai, and the rest of F4 search for him.
There is no plan for Season 2 at this stage. We can’t hope that continued support and availability of the actors make this a possibility in future.
In a recent episode of GMMTV’s “Devil Sister,” Kavin, the lead actor, is leading the show. You can watch it on GMMTV’s YouTube channel divided into sections with English subtitles much like F4 Thailand. If you’re keen you can catch up this weekend and be ready for ep 3 on Monday.
What can we watch instead?
Japanese viewers of Viki’s English-language channel Rakuten Viki can now watch the entire series Boys Over Flowers, from 2005, in one go. The entire series is available for streaming on the channel as well as individual episodes.
In Japan, there is a Season 2 of the 2007 Hana Yori Dango Returns that picks up and tells some of the storyline already covered in other versions. That too has been released this week on Viki called Boys Over Flowers 2 (returns). It is listed as 2022 but it is actually the 2007 series, picking up exactly where the first leaves off. ..
The Hana Yori Dango series has continued with new stories in 2008 and 2018. ..
We were also checking out a Filipino version of Boys Over Flowers slated for sometime this year. A teaser video names the actors but it seems to have been back-burnered for the moment, with no news at present. I’ll update this story when I hear back from them.

Vachirawit ‘Bright’ Chivaree will appear in a romantic drama set for 6 episodes later this year, airdate yet to be confirmed. He’s also leading Astrophile, a romance drama slated for 2022 release.
The cast of Home School is returning for a new season. Jirawat ‘Dew’ Sutivanichsak (who plays Ren), Hirunkit “Nani’ Changkham (who plays MJ), Chanikan “Prim” Tangkabodee, (who plays Kaning) and Kay Lertsittichai (who plays Talay) are all working on the mystery drama, Home School. Even Cindy Sirinya Bishop (Thyme’s mother Roselyn) is in this one, so nearly a reunion for us. Airdate still to be set.
Tontawan Tu Tantivejakul is currently working on a family drama 10 Years Ticket with no air date set, but an indication it may run in 2022. Meanwhile, her on-screen brother Glakao is set to play a supporting role in BL drama Moonlight Chicken and a main role in romance My School President. Both are expected to run in 2022. ..
