The Magicians
The Magicians is a new series based on the novel by Lev Grossman. It is set in the same world as A Discovery Of Witches and features many of the same characters. For some, this clash of tones will be an instant turn-off but for those invested in A Discovery Of Witches, this will certainly whet the appetite. ..

The Magicians is a series that does well to flesh out its five seasons. If you’re sold after the first couple of episodes, you’re in for a real treat with this one. ..
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Sabrina the Teenage Witch is a beloved comic book and sitcom, but this new adaptation takes the series in a new direction that is both dark and charismatic. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is an excellent example of how to take an established property and make it even better. ..
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a unique and engaging show that establishes itself as a threat to the television landscape. Kiernan Shipka’s inspired performance as half-witch/half-human Sabrina Spellman and the surprisingly gruesome and sinister tone are highlights of this show. ..
Sabrina Spellman is about to turn 16 and celebrate with a very special ritual that will either mark the beginning of her witching life or end it. She has a happy, mortal life with her best friend Harvey, but Sabrina is torn between whether to give up everything she’s ever known for the power of witchcraft or turn her back on what she was born to do. ..
The series continues to have a dark tone throughout the different seasons, adding an extra layer of danger and tension for good measure. This one is definitely quite dark, but it’s a decent coming-of-age series nonetheless. ..
Our thoughts on Sabrina in our full season reviews are here!
A Discovery Of Witches
The Discovery of Witches is a well written drama with some truly beautiful imagery across its run-time. That’s to say nothing of the characters who are interesting and endearing. The story is compelling, the characters are likable, and the plot is well-conceived. While there are some flaws in the writing, overall this drama is an excellent addition to any collection.
The show, “Witches of East End,” follows the life of Diana Bishop, a witch who is the last living member of her kind. The show is set in a world where witches, vampires and demons live discreetly among humans. In the first season, Diana struggles to maintain her secrecy while also maintaining her relationships with her friends and family. In the second season, Diana returns to her childhood home and must face the ghosts of her past. ..
While the first season is stronger, there’s a lot to like here and fans of romance and fantasy offerings should be in their element. ..
A Discovery Of Witches is a new series that premieres on October 12th. We’re excited to share our thoughts on the show with you!

Sabrina The Teenage Witch is a show about a teenage witch who finds herself with magical powers. Her Aunts Zelda and Hilda try to keep her out of trouble, but sometimes they can’t keep up.
While the tone of the new Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is very different, it’s still a compelling blast from the past worth checking out. ..
Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Since its inception in 1997, Buffy The Vampire Slayer has been a hit with audiences of all ages. Its unique story-telling style and strong female characters have made it one of the most influential shows of all time.
Buffy is a teenager who discovers she is a slayer, a young girl destined to push back the forces of evil that spew out the aptly titled Hellmouth located in the town of Sunnydale. The town is home to many people who have been cursed by the demon Spike, and Buffy quickly becomes involved in their fight against him. She quickly learns that there are many different ways to fight against Spike, and that her own strength and skills are not enough.
While many fans will agree the show should have concluded at the end of season 5, season 6 ironically features one of the best episodes of TV – a musical no less – that captures the humour, heartbreak and excellent narrative work this show is synonymous for.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer is a show that is full of action and empowerment for women. It is a must-watch if you are looking for something spooky and empowering.
We thought that Buffy The Vampire Slayer was one of the best shows on television this year. We loved the characters, the story, and the action.
Salem
Salem is a drama that examines what really fueled the town’s infamous witch trials of the time. It combines fantastical elements with more character-driven drama, leaning heavily into supernatural elements the longer the series goes on for.
The main plot line of the show revolves around a powerful witch called Mary Sibley who controls the Salem Witch Trials and intends to summon the Devil.
Salem is a well written character-driven drama that hits a road bump when her long lost love, John Alden, returns from the war. With the usual dose of romance and drama thrown in, Salem is a complex but well written character-driven story.
His Dark Materials
The Dark Materials is a wonderful fantasy series. Excellent acting and a faithful story adaptation of Philip Pullman’s novels combine beautifully with the world building on offer, making for a wholly absorbing and satisfying watch. The show never outstays its welcome either across its three seasons.
Lyra Belacqua is a young girl who lives in a world where humans and daemons share an intricate link together. As kids start going missing, snatched up by the Gobblers, Lyra finds herself coming in possession of the mysterious alethiometer. ..
When her best friend Roger goes missing, the search and rescue mission quickly becomes so much more as this expansive, dangerous and wondrous show becomes one of the small screen’s best fantasy offerings. ..
The BBC’s full season review of His Dark Materials is available here. ..
Penny Dreadful
Penny Dreadful is a series of dark, atmospheric stories set in Victorian London. It combines blood-soaked horror with mystery to create an exciting and suspenseful read. The story essentially sees explorer Sir Malcolm Murray, American gunslinger Ethan Chandler, scientist Victor Frankenstein and medium Vanessa Ives uniting to combat supernatural threats together.
The show’s premise is simple enough: a woman named Penny Dreadful goes missing and no one knows where she has gone. But the more you learn about her, the more mysterious and compelling her story becomes. The acting is fantastic, from the lead actress to the supporting players. The storytelling is excellent, with a well-paced plot that keeps you guessing until the very end. This show is definitely worth watching!
The production is well-done and the characters are well-drawn. This one is worth checking out.
The Witcher
The Witcher is a well written and satisfying slice of high-fantasy. There is enough magic, monsters and sword-fighting to keep things rooted in danger while doing justice to the video game it’s based on. ..
Geralt is a monster hunter who has been vilified by humans. He spends his time hunting creatures and getting paid to do so.
Geralt and Ciri are joined on this hunt by Yennefer, a mage-in-training named Ciri. Across this first season, the show balances investigative work with monster slaying really well. This should satisfy those looking to scratch that high fantasy itch.
In our full season review of The Witcher, we discuss the game’s story, its characters, and how it compares to other popular RPGs.
Game Of Thrones
Despite its lackluster final two seasons, Game of Thrones boasts some absolutely incredible TV. Specifically, the adaptations of books 2 and 3 in George R.R. Martin’s fantasy epic. These last two seasons were not up to the high standards set by the first two, but they are still worth watching for fans of the show. ..
The series has been highly anticipated by many, with many people eager to see how it will turn out. However, there are a few key questions that remain unanswered. For example, who will win the Iron Throne? And what will happen to Daenerys?
While all this is happening, ancient enemies known as the White Walkers are stirring, threatening certain doom unless the families can somehow learn to coexist. ..
The show follows the story of Westeros, a region in the north of Europe that is home to many powerful families. Over time, these families have come to rely on one another, and the relationships between them have become increasingly strained. One of these families is the Lannisters, who are considered to be one of the most powerful in Westeros. One day, a group of their enemies comes to attack them. The Lannisters fight bravely, but they are quickly overwhelmed and killed. Their children manage to escape and take refuge with some other powerful families. These new families help the children grow up and learn how to protect themselves from their enemies. One day, another group of their enemies comes to attack them again. This time, they are much more prepared and fight very hard. The Lannisters again fight bravely, but they are quickly overwhelmed and killed as well. Their children manage to escape again and take refuge with some other powerful families still in Westeros. These new families help the children grow up even more and learn how to protect themselves from their enemies once again. Eventually, one of these groups comes too close for comfort for either side: The Lannisters have been killing their own children in order to keep control over Westeros; meanwhile, the other group has been kidnapping young girls in order to get them pregnant so that they can rule Westeros themselves! In this incredibly bad ending, both sides end up dead (and all of Westeros is taken over by those who took control of it before). So if you’re looking for an epic battle with incredible moments - as well as one incredibly bad ending - then Game Of Thrones is definitely worth watching!

Charmed

The sisters have a special ability that allows them to stop time, move objects and see the future. They use this power together to fight demons, warlocks and all manner of nastiness across 8 expansive seasons.
The show is imaginative, well-written and utterly addictive. It’s a great way to spend an evening and it finishes with a wonderful conclusion at the end.
The Worst Witch (1998)
The original Worst Witch was a popular series that aired on TV from 1998 to 2002. The show was about a young witch named Susan who travels around to different places and helps people. Although the remake of the show has been made, the original series still holds up as one of the best young adult witch-orientated series.
Mildred Hubble is a witch attending Cackles Academy. She’s known as the “Worst Witch” because she always gets into trouble.
This one is another good one to watch. It’s charming and a fun little adventure for kids and families to enjoy. ..
Wizards: Tales of Arcadia
Although you can jump into Wizards without watching Trollhunters or 3 Below, it’s strongly recommended that you watch them both before jumping into this. There are events referenced here that have a lot more weight after watching those shows. There are also plenty of characters and incidents that cross over between the shows.
Wizards concludes the epic trilogy that began with Arcadia Rising. The story pulls together our eclectic group of characters from the different Arcadia realms, and Jim, Claire, Toby, Steve and Douxie form our dysfunctional team across the season. This season, we face off against an evil force that threatens the world.
The story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table continues in this exciting new series finale. In this time-bending adventure, the heroes must help stop a powerful evil from taking over Camelot and restoring an age of peace and prosperity.
WandaVision
Marvel’s first foray onto the small screen is still arguably its strongest. The showrunners, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, have crafted a story that feels fresh and exciting, despite being set in the same world as their other Marvel properties. The characters are well-drawn and the plot is compelling, making for an enjoyable watch.
Wanda is the central protagonist in a black and white sitcom with Vision. How? What happened? Is this an alternate universe? How is Vision still alive? And is there someone pulling the strings? ..
It’s here where WandaVision shines the most, keeping its cards close to its chest and unwilling to show what’s really going on. It’s not until the middle of the show where the direction shifts slightly, giving more clues and answers to what’s been happening.
While we’re drip-fed tantalizing bites of exposition, the show also uses its episodic format to pay homage to sitcoms of old. WandaVision is a unique hybrid of superhero and sitcom that’s unlikely to be replicated any time soon. ..
Our thoughts on WandaVision in our full season review: We loved WandaVision’s new season of programming, which aired from October to December. The show is a great mix of current events and family sitcoms, and we found it to be very entertaining. We especially enjoyed the episodes that focused on the K-pop industry, and the show’s overall message was clear: music is important and should be taken seriously.

The Vampire Diaries
The show’s popularity is likely due to its ability to explore the dark side of human nature, and its characters are often relatable. The show has been praised for its writing, acting, and mythology.
The plot synopsis for “Vampire Academy” is pretty similar to that of “The Vampire Diaries”. Elena, a high school girl, captures the heart of Stefan, a vampire, and they fall in love. However, things get complicated when Stefan starts to transform into a vampire.
The Vampire Diaries is a seriously addicting guilty pleasure that is full of teenage melodrama and complicated set-ups. Despite its formulaic set-up, the show eventually merges and evolves into something that can only be summed up as a seriously addicting show.
Witches Of East End
The series follows the Beauchamp women as they navigate their new lives as witches, trying to keep their secret while also dealing with the everyday challenges of young adulthood. ..

This story is about two children who were abandoned by their parents at the same church and have been inseparable ever since. The story follows a group of people as they try to piece together what happened to their loved ones in the wake of a devastating natural disaster. The series is slow to build up the suspense, but as the story progresses it becomes more and more compelling. The later episodes are much more rewarding, as the characters come to understand what happened and why.
