Travelers

But if you take a closer look, you’ll see that Travelers is anything but your average sci-fi show. In fact, it’s one of the most unique and innovative titles on television today. That’s because Travelers is all about the people. The travelers who come together to try and save the world from total annihilation. And in this unique show, they do everything possible to make that happen. From their journey to the world of science and technology, to their fight against the evil corporation that wants to destroy everything, these travelers are all fighting for something greater than themselves. And while they may not be original ideas, they are definitely worth watching.

The Travelers is a well written and complex story that manages to weave its unique premise through a well written plot and believable, complex characters.

As the last humans on Earth struggle to keep their society afloat, they must use all of their ingenuity and courage to prevent a cataclysmic event that could change everything. With a cast of unforgettable characters, Travelers is an exciting and suspenseful read.

The finale of “Game of Thrones” leaves much to be desired, but it does enough to conclude the story on a high. However, it also leaves the door open for a possible reboot further down the line.

Our full season review of Travelers can be found here. ..

12 Monkeys

12 Monkeys is an underrated sci-fi show that is better than its big screen brother. It produces something special that is criminally overlooked. ..

The film is set in the future, and follows a time traveler who jumps back in time to stop a plague from wiping out Earth. While this sounds simple in theory, 12 Monkeys quickly adds layers of depth to rival that seen in Dark. The story is told through the eyes of a character who is struggling with the choices made by those around them, and the consequences of their actions.

The first season of 12 Monkeys was a lot of fun. It introduced a new group called the Army of the 12 Monkeys, which seemed desperate to change the past but ended up doing more harm than good. The journey that follows is an incredible one, full of suspense and excitement. The finale is spine-chilling, and it leaves you feeling satisfied with what was accomplished.

Season reviews for 12 Monkeys are now available! Read our thoughts on the show here. ..

Outlander

Outlander is a great adaptation of the book from start to finish. The story is well-paced and the characters are well-drawn. The only downside is that it doesn’t quite live up to the novel’s high standards.

Outlander is a romance that goes on to evolve and grow over time. It combines several different genres, including historical fiction, adventure, fantasy and melodrama. This blending of genres makes Outlander such an enthralling watch. The later seasons do meander a little at times, but there’s enough here to enjoy nonetheless.

Lost

In 2004, a show called Lost went way over-budget with its pilot episode. The consequences of that saw several people fired.

Lost became a worldwide phenomenon after a production mistake helped create the show. ..

The highly engrossing, mystery series revolves around a group of plane-crash survivors washing up on shore and fighting for survival on a very weird island holding many, many secrets.

Lost is a show that has lost its way in the later seasons, but it is still an engaging and unmissable journey. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should definitely watch it. ..

Erased

In Erased, a boy with the ability to travel back through time has a story that is both heart-wrenching and inspiring. He is a young man who has to fight for his life every day, and yet he never gives up. He continues to fight even when the odds seem insurmountable, and he always finds a way to make things right.

Satoru, a struggling manga artist, uses his unique ability of rewinding time to stop accidents from happening in front of him. After witnessing the murder of his mother, Satoru uses his gift to go back in time and prevent her death.

Satoru wakes up in his childhood bedroom on a Sunday morning. He remembers that he had gone to bed the previous night, but cannot remember what happened after that. Suddenly, he notices a strange woman in the room with him and jumps back 18 years to when he was just starting high school. He is now a second-year high school student and has just started dating Yumiko. They are walking home from buying ice cream when they are attacked by two men wielding knives. Satoru manages to fight them off and ends up injuring one of them with his skateboard. Yumiko is kidnapped and Satoru has to go find her. He travels back in time to 1986, where he meets Yumiko for the first time. She is working at a convenience store and they start dating. Satoru spends most of his time trying to fix things that have gone wrong in the past, such as preventing his parents from divorcing or saving Yumiko from being kidnapped. Eventually, Satoru finds out that the two men who attacked him last night are actually agents working for an organization called Chronos Incorporated. They were sent back in time to kill him so that he cannot prevent their planned future events from happening. Satoru defeats the agents and returns home safely, but not before learning some important truths about himself along the way ..

This live-action series is based on the manga of the same name and follows a group of people who travel back in time to fix things that have gone wrong. Despite its obvious manga influences, this series is well worth checking out.

Our thoughts on Erased season one can be found here.

Legion

Legion is a sci-fi series that exists in a world of mutants and space marines. It’s also one of the more unusual and visually stunning shows on television right now.

Legion is one of the most unique and well-made TV shows I’ve ever seen. It’s a mix of science fiction, horror, and action, with some great twists and turns along the way. If you’re looking for something new to watch, this is definitely it.

David Haller is a super mutant who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia. He spends his time institutionalized after being diagnosed, and is often in a state of confusion and agitation.

David is a character in the show who is trying to make sense of what’s happening and why he’s there. The show has three seasons and ends conclusively, making it a solid watch that is very much recommended. ..

Our thoughts on Legion are here!

The Ministry Of Time (El Ministerio Del Tiempo)

The Ministry Of Time is a real hidden gem that is worth watching. Each episode is around 70 minutes long and revolves around a secret society operating in Madrid.

In a world where time travel is a common occurrence, it’s up to a warrior from the 16th Century, the first female university student from the 19th Century and a paramedic from the 21st Century to protect the timeline. Together, they are thrust into a dangerous world where villains threaten to change Spanish history forever.

The first three chapters of “Kingdom Hearts III” explore everything from the Armada to important aristocrats. There’s plenty of content to sink your teeth into over the course of three seasons. ..

The Ministry of Time is a new Canadian series that premiered on October 12th. The series follows the lives of three friends who work at the Ministry of Time. The show is set in the future and features a variety of interesting plotlines. Our thoughts on the show are below!

The Umbrella Academy

The Umbrella Academy is a great series with an excellent ensemble of characters. It takes the time to flesh out each character and give them a compelling arc. ..

The action sequences are well shot and the simple story surrounding this misfit group of child-heroes teaming up to save the world is as engrossing as it is watchable. It’s also one of the better examples of a show outdoing itself in the second season.

The Umbrella Academy is a new series that premiered on Netflix this year. The show follows a group of kids who are taken in by a mysterious organization known as the Umbrella Academy. The show is full of action, adventure, and suspense. We thought that the show was great and we would give our full review of it here!

Undone

The series is clever and well-done, but there are some areas where it could be improved. For example, the plot could be more developed and the characterization could be more consistent. However, Undone is a very strong show that I would recommend to anyone looking for an interesting and progressive animated series.

Alma’s life revolves around her family. Her average family lives in an average neighbourhood and after being involved in a car accident and awakening in hospital following a coma, Alma learns she has new powers that allow her to manipulate time. By narrating her story, we learn about Alma’s life and the people in it, all living their everyday lives with the same concerns and worries.

Alma is a compelling protagonist because she is searching for purpose in life. The series works best when viewers view it as Alma trying to find her place in the world. Undone places a lot of pressure on Alma, and this allows for great character development and intriguing relationships to form. ..

This animation is definitely worth checking out, as it is one of the more unique choices on the list.

In our full season review, we discuss how Undone fared and what we think is the future of the game.

The King: Eternal Monarch

The King: Eternal Monarch is a show that has a lot of plot holes and confusing lore. However, it is something very engrossing and enjoyable to watch. ..

In the Republic of Korea, a young girl named Yeon-hee is forced to flee her home after her family is killed. She finds herself in the Kingdom of Corea, where she is taken in by a woman named Yoon-hee. Yeon-hee tells Yeon-hee that she was once too similar to her own mother, and that she has been living in a world where her mother never existed. The two women become friends, and together they try to find their way back to the Republic of Korea. However, the more they learn about Corea, the more complicated their situation becomes.

The King: Eternal Monarch is a drama that tells the story of a young king who must deal with the challenges of life in an ever-changing society. The show has a unique and interesting plot that will keep you entertained for the entire duration.

The King: Eternal Monarch is an interesting game that has a lot of potential, but it needs more polish to be a great title. ..

365: Repeat The Year

The Year is a suspenseful thriller about a group of people resetting their lives for different reasons. Specifically, our story here follows 10 different individuals who reset their life by one year and relive their past. Only, unexpectedly mysterious situations begin to arise, with each of the characters seeing their fates changed and distorted in the process.

Ji Hyung Joo, a detective in the violent crime division, is at the forefront of this phenomena. When he figures out something is awry, he begins investigating this phenomenon.

The year is 365, and the mystery box series by author Kaitlyn Green has you guessing what will happen next. You’ll never know what’s going to happen, and the story keeps you on the edge of your seat. The pace is really pacey, and it makes for a great read.

Steins;Gate

This mystery box is a well written and exciting show that will keep you hooked from the start to the end. The writing is excellent and the plot is well developed, making for an enjoyable experience.

The Steins;Gate series is a well-done time travel series that takes the concept of time travel and runs with it, delivering a slow-burn opening before absolutely going to town with the second half of its run-time. I won’t spoil anything here but this is easily one of the better written time travel series out there.

Steins;Gate is a science fiction thriller that is moody, briskly paced, and atmospheric. ..

Fringe

If you’re a fan of the X-Files, then you’ll love fringe. It’s a modern day version that takes what made that show so great and adds a scientific edge to proceedings. The later seasons are absolutely fantastic and add some really shocking twists to the fold too, breathing new life into this show.

The F.B.I. agent known as Olivia Dunham is forced to work with an institutionalized scientist named Walter Bishop. Together with Walter’s estranged son Peter, they start to uncover various strange phenomena. These episodic cases are mixed in with a larger conspiracy that engulfs the series.

The sci-fi series by fringe expertly blends two narrative arcs together and tops it off with an excellent dynamic between the characters, growing and evolving over time to produce a really gripping story.

We loved Fringe this season! The show had a lot of great ideas and executed them very well. We thought the characters were interesting and the story was compelling. We would definitely recommend watching Fringe if you’re looking for a great show to watch!

Heroes (Season 1)

Jupiter’s Legacy is a great example of character writing and creating believable heroes in the modern day world. Season 1 bears much resemblance to Jupiter’s Legacy, but the heroes in this series don’t wear capes and show off their powers. This series is one of the better examples of character writing and creating believable heroes in the modern day world.

Heroes is a compelling origin story for superheroes on the small screen. The characters are well written, given some decent screen time, and the extended run-time is enough to flesh everyone out and build up to a climactic showdown at the end. ..

Season 2 of “The Walking Dead” has seen a sharp decline in quality, so if you’re looking for a gripping and exciting show to watch, this may not be the right choice.

Our thoughts on Heroes’ season finale can be found here. ..

The 4400

The 4400 is a sci-fi show that blends together various other shows’ influences. It has strong influences of Lost, Flashforward and The X-Files, but it also manages to stand on its own. This show is a must-watch for sci-fi fans of all ages.

The 4400 people who suddenly return to Earth are all different in some ways, but they all have one common goal: to find their way back home. None of the 4400 people have aged physically, although mentally some of them definitely have.

The NTAC is investigating this phenomenon and trying to figure out why it’s happening.

The 4400 is a gripping, binge-worthy show that will keep you hooked from the first episode.

Kairos

Kairos is a show that revolves around timelines and how they can be rewritten. It is a cleverly written show with endearing characters that will keep you entertained from beginning to end. ..

Kairos is a sci-fi show that is both smart and suspenseful. The 16 episodes are consistently tense, with fall of suspenseful moments that build up to an excellent twist. This show is one of the more satisfying conclusions to any drama released this year.

If you’re looking for a thrilling sci-fi novel, this one is definitely worth checking out. ..

Doctor Who

In 1963 a mad man in a police box appeared and changed sci-fi forever. Since then, Doctor Who has gone on to become the longest-running sci-fi show worldwide. Of course, the show did take an extended hiatus back in the 90’s before being revitalized again.

While Classic Who is much slower and more dialogue-driven, Russell T Davies brought Doctor Who back in 2005 for a modern audience, with more action and thrills. Peak Doctor Who in the modern era would argue that seasons 4-6 are where the show is at its all-time high.

The Doctor travels around the universe in his TARDIS, a time machine that’s bigger on the inside. He uses it to explore different parts of the cosmos, and to fight against evil.

The Doctor travels the galaxy, encountering different creatures and adversaries on his many adventures. He has many companions along the way, each with their own unique strengths and weaknesses. These companions help The Doctor face his challenges and achieve his goals, making each journey unique.

Doctor Who season 7 is now available to watch on Netflix. The seventh season of the British science fiction series was released on October 14th, 2018 and we thought it was great! The show is set in the future and follows the adventures of a group of scientists who travel to different planets in order to study their cultures and learn about their strange creatures. The show is full of action, adventure, and suspense, and we loved every minute of it! We thought that the new season was better than the previous ones because it had more action and excitement. The characters were also more interesting this year, and we were really looking forward to seeing what would happen next. We think that Doctor Who is one of the best shows on television right now, and we can’t wait to see what else he has in store for us next!

Russian Doll

The Russian Doll is a science fiction novel by Russian author Ivan Turgenev. It tells the story of a group of people who are sent back in time to relive the events of World War I. The novel was published in February 2019 and has been met with mixed reviews.

Russian Doll is one of the year’s most talked-about Netflix Originals. It was created by Natasha Lyonne, has a quirky dramedy set up, and is directed by Lyonne herself. ..

The unexpected plot twist midway through the show helped to defy expectations too, in what could have easily turned into a run-of-the-mill comedy. For that alone, the show deserves props. ..

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency is a show with a great mystery at its heart. It is frenetic, witty, and intelligently paced, making it an enjoyable watch. ..

Dirk and Todd team up on a mystery that takes them on an exciting, time-bending adventure. They must use their detective skills to solve the mystery before it destroys the world!

Dirk is a comedy drama that quickly becomes an engrossing, endearing comedic drama. If you’re in the mood for a fantastical adventure, complete with trippy visuals, crazy shenanigans and a few hearty laughs along the way, this may be the show for you.

Our thoughts on Dirk Gently are available in our full season reviews. ..

Tunnel

The show revolves around a detective named Park Gwang-Ho who travels between the past and present in an attempt to save his daughter. Much like Alice, this is a drama that sees our lead character desperate to save that which is most precious to him. The show follows Park as he travels back in time and tries to find a way to prevent her from being hurt or killed. Along the way, he must face challenges and obstacles along the way, all while trying to keep his mind off of the fact that he may never see his daughter again.

Although the plot is a bit obvious and the last act of the series takes a surprising and questionable turn, Tunnel is an enjoyable sci-fi drama that will keep you entertained.

Timeless

The series is interesting because it takes a simple premise and runs with it. For example, the first episode starts with a man waking up in a new world where he has no memory of his past. The next episode follows him as he tries to figure out what happened and why he’s here. The series goes on to explore different aspects of this new world, such as the relationships between people and the environment.

A criminal has stolen a time machine and plans to use it to destroy America. This could change the past in a way that is not desirable. ..

The trio of heroes are a soldier, a scientist and a history professor. Together, they’re tasked with using the machine’s prototype to travel in time to critical events. The machine’s prototype is essential to Earth’s only hope – if they can find and fix it, the world will be saved.

NBC’s Timeless is a well-done show that is both fun and engaging. The ending wraps up the story enough to make it satisfying.

Nine: 9 Times Time Travel

Nine: Nine Times Time Travel is a beautiful drama that has some plot contrivances and continuity issues. However, the show itself does a great job bringing you into this world and the cinematography is fantastic throughout. ..

Sun-Woo is a man who discovers incense sticks that send him back through time. He uses these sticks to explore different moments in his life and learn more about himself. ..

Sun-Woo is determined to change the world he’s currently living in, but when he learns his actions have consequences for those in the present, he finds himself struggling.

Nine is a fun time travel series that has its problems, but is still worth checking out. ..

Future Man

Future Man is a show that wants to be all things to all people. This focus helps the show to be more enjoyable for viewers of all ages. The comedy/sci-fi mash-up is clearly geared towards young male adults, with its video game inspired plot line and crude jokes.

Josh Futturman is a janitor by day, but whizz kid video-gamer by night. When Josh completes the last level of a difficult video game no one else has managed to achieve, a duo of time travelling fighters recruit him for a secret mission. ..

In Transcendence, players take on the role of a time traveler who must travel through different time periods in an attempt to prevent humanity’s destruction. Along the way, players will encounter hilarious characters and bizarre situations that will make for an entertaining and unique gaming experience. ..

In our full season reviews, we discuss the various elements that make up Future Man and how they play into the overall story.

Signal

The story follows a detective named Park (Jung Woo-seok) as he investigates a series of murders that take place in Seoul during the early 1990s. The murders are connected, and the detective soon realizes that the killer is using a time machine to commit these crimes. Signal is an incredible thrill ride that blends a shocking string of crimes with an idea that sees a walkie-talkie able to communicate with the past – 1989 to be precise. The story follows a detective named Park as he investigates a series of murders that take place in Seoul during the early 1990s. The murders are connected, and the detective soon realizes that the killer is using a time machine to commit these crimes.

With both Hae-Young and Soo-Hyun working together, they team up with Jae-Han from the past in order to catch the killer. With the gift of hindsight and foresight at their disposal, they work to try and prevent these atrocious crimes from ever taking place. ..

Life on Mars

The writing in Life On Mars is well done, with a few anachronisms occasionally creeping in. It’s a fun time travel romp. ..

At the center of this is DI Sam Tyler, who finds himself hunting a killer in 2006. When he’s hit by a car though, he awakens in 1973.

The series then plays with the idea of different police methods, with Sam’s modern approach clashing with the archaic way of how things are done in the 70’s.

The show has a lot to like about it.

Quantum Leap

Quantum Leap is a time-traveling science fiction series that has withstood the test of time. The show was released in the late 1980s, but it still holds up today. ..

The story primarily revolves around a failed government experiment into time travel. Here, a scientist becomes trapped in the past and is forced to jump into the bodies of different people to resolve their issues. At the same time, he remains dead-set on finding his way back home. ..

The pair of journalists set out to stop the terrorists before they change the course of history using their future connections and a 17 year old tech genius called Alec.

Continuum is a great choice for those looking for a quality, well written game. ..

Dark

Dark is a gripping, dark series that consistently surprises and engages its viewers. The 3 season run provides a unique and compelling experience that will keep you watching until the final scene.

The community is in shock as they try to piece together what happened to the children and why they may have gone missing. As they start to explore the cave, they come into contact with strange creatures and dangerous obstacles. They must use all of their skills and knowledge to find out what happened to the children and protect their community from danger.

We won’t spoil more but suffice to say this is one story that you’ll need to revisit multiple times to catch all the clues along the way.

Dark is a highly recommended time travel series that comes with a beautiful, atmospheric score. This one is sure to keep you entertained for hours on end.
