A Whisker Away

This anime features a cat as the central protagonist who is able to use her wits and intelligence to solve problems.

The story follows Miyo as she begins to change into a cat in order to win the love of her classmate Kento. She spends more time with him and starts to feel closer to him than ever before. However, there are some challenges along the way. First, she has to learn how to live as a cat and secondly, she has to figure out how to get close to Kento without revealing her true identity.

As the line between human and cat begins to blur, the second half of this movie really comes into its own and shows some fantastical Ghibli magic (although this is not a Ghibli title, of course.) With some nice themes at its core and a cute cat fronting the title, A Whisker Away is definitely a decent cat movie.

The Incredible Journey was a classic film that captured the heart of many people. The remake, Homeward Bound, is a story of two dogs and a cat who find themselves separated from their owners. They embark on an epic quest across the Sierra Nevada mountains to find their owner.

The film’s narrative is simple but the evolving bond between this trio over time is partly why the movies works as well as it does. The story is classic and has stood the test of time, thanks in part to some great voice acting that brings the animals to life.

Pet Sematary (1989)

The author takes readers on a horror journey as they explore the dark secrets of this burial ground, which could have deadly consequences for those who visit it. The writing is gripping and the plot is compelling, making this one of the most exciting books I’ve read in a while.

The film follows a group of kids who are taken captive by a mad scientist (played by Tom Hiddleston) and his evil experiments. The kids are forced to do terrible things, like turning into animals or being turned into zombies, in order to survive. But even though the movie is simple, it’s also incredibly suspenseful and creepy. The visual effects are amazing but the movie’s true power comes from its ability to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Oliver and Company

Oliver and Company is a charming little animation that is essentially the cat and dog version of Oliver Twist. Released in 1989, the film combines its tried and tested tale with some colourful musical numbers and beautifully drawn animation. ..

The film is a contemporary take on the classic story of Pinocchio, and it perfectly captures the essence of what animated films do so well. ..

Felidae

Felidae is a story about a cat who investigates a series of brutal murders. The similarities to Watership Down are there, but Felidae goes one step further by adding some crude, sexual and violent scenes. None of this is done distastefully though and the beauty here comes from just how well it’s implemented into the main story. ..

This German animated film is dark, haunting and unforgettable; certainly worth a watch if you haven’t already.

The Secret Life Of Pets

In truth, the first half hour of The Secret Life Of Pets is full of clever gags that set the tone for the rest of the film. However, the second act is much more formulaic and simple, which may disappoint some viewers. Despite this, The Secret Life Of Pets is still a charming film that is a big hit with kids. ..

This list of ten finalists is definitely not as strong as some of the others, but it’s still a great option for someone looking for a cute and charming pet.

Kiki’s Delivery Service

Kiki’s Delivery Service is a beautiful and memorable Ghibli film. It combines well-drawn characters with realistic animation, making it a must-watch for fans of the studio’s work. The lack of an antagonistic presence is also noticeable, making it a refreshing change from many other Ghibli films.

While that sounds like a negative, Kiki’s Delivery Service instead paints this movie in a much more uplifting and hopeful light with important themes about self-belief and hope for the future. This results in something very simple but also very enjoyable, backed up by a feline sidekick that’s every bit as memorable.
