Mr. Song

In the first episode of season 2, Luke works with his mother in her accessory shop, Mr Song’s. According to Luke, who heads outside and begins playing his cello, this is the one-stop shop for all your hats and accessory needs. Luke encourages Martha Jean the Queen, the local radio host, to head in and check out the different hats they have. She’s pretty impressed too, although we learn that business isn’t so good at the moment.

The family are all very busy and Luke’s father is going to be going to New York to do business. Luke asks if he can go with him but he’s turned down because he wants to go with his mom. The family gets a big break when Martha calls out Mr. Song’s radio show and suggests they need a hat shop for their accessory needs. And the next day, the shop is super busy and full of people looking for their own personal hats.

Luke, a hardworking young man, works with his mother to run their small business. His mother is grateful to Martha for helping them out and is quick to point out that she doesn’t want any money for her advertising of the store. She just wanted to help out and spread the word. ..

Luke heads to school, studying to be a doctor. Although his professor is quick to point out that he has a real future in this, his passions lie with the arts. When Luke returns home, Martha is there to offer a helping hand and an encouraging word, pointing out that only he can shape his own future.

Luke’s family has already predetermined his future, but he decides to drop out of college to follow his passions. Despite the fact that there is only one more semester left, Luke wants to attend art school and follow his interests. His father is not happy with this decision, pointing out that Luke has sacrificed everything to give his son a bright future. But Luke doesn’t want the future he sees; he wants the one he was meant to have.

Luke applied to college all the same and got in. He told his father that day and stood up to him. He knew he was good at this and applied to eight different art schools, but was accepted to every single one. He’s going to follow his passion no matter what.

Luke’s return home to his family is not going as planned. He doesn’t like the way art school is teaching him and he doesn’t think it’s what he wanted for himself. He decides to go back home and give up.

Luke’s mother sees the hard work her son is putting in, but Luke chimes in, pointing out that she’s an artist and he’s always been inspired by her.

When Luke and his mum take the plunge and head to church with Martha Jean, they allow a smile to cross their faces as they get up and start clapping along to the music.

According to Luke Song, the most famous hat shop in Detroit became the most famous hat shop in America. The hat shop was run by Luke Song and his wife Martha Jean. The couple remained close friends for life and Martha Jean was eventually buried with her Nefertiti hat.

The Episode Review

The Song family returns to Little America in the first chapter of the new season, and it’s clear from the start that this is going to be a heartwarming story about following your dreams and doing everything you can to try and succeed in this world. The Song family is a great example of what can happen when you put your heart into something, and it’s clear from the beginning that they’re going to be a major part of the show. ..

Luke, a recent college graduate, has found his calling in making hats. He uses his creative skills to great effect and is quickly gaining a following among the fashion-savvy crowd.

There’s also a nice dig at art school and how pretentious the whole thing can feel, especially when it comes to “modern” art and what really constitutes as artwork. As a side note here, I think many of us will agree we’d rather go to a gallery full of drawings and paintings like Luke’s! ..
