Yoshiko’s wish is that her birthday party be a success and she gets to enjoy all the fun and games her friends can offer. Yoshiko’s family is very supportive of Yoshiko in her wish and they make sure to have a great time at Yoshiko’s birthday party.

Yoshiko heads down to the basement to watch the baseball, where she witnesses her hero Ichiro breaking records. After a wave of euphoria, she’s hit with overwhelming emotion. Yoshiko begins crying, witnessing a wonderful moment in baseball history but also reminded of her own trials and tribulations to make it this far.

At work, Yoshiko gets inspired to try her hand at baseball. She spends a lot of money, including $1500 on new equipment, but there’s no women baseball teams. Softball is completely different, as we know, and Yoshiko is determined to break boundaries.

Since coming to the US, Yoshiko has been working tirelessly to bring in as many women as possible to join the Starlings. She’s hand-delivering flyers around the community and even going so far as to start a baseball team herself. Yoshiko is passionate about playing and wants to help make the US a better place for all.

Yoshiko’s decision to reduce her work hours to focus on her baseball career causes tension at home. Her partner is worried about how they’ll make ends meet if Yoshiko’s hours decrease even more, and suggests she reconsider. Yoshiko is determined to pursue her dream, though, and slowly but surely they build a full team around her. ..

Yoshiko, a 42-year-old wife and mother, falls out with her husband, Paul, after he tells her that she has no chance of becoming a professional baseball player. Yoshiko likens Paul to a box and tells him that he has no aspirations and she never wanted to be married to or have a son like him. Yoshiko is now following her dream, no matter what. Paul watches in awe as Yoshiko creates an edited promotion video for her dream of becoming a professional baseball player on her computer. Finally realizing that Yoshiko has real passion for this, Paul supports her in her pursuit of her dream. ..

Yoshiko’s group of friends strike out and don’t win, and the dream unfortunately comes to an end. Yoshiko also loses her passion for baseball, not wanting to watch anymore.

In 2021, Yoshiko and Paul take Yoshiko to a field that he’s bought for her, allowing Yoshiko to realize her dream and practice baseball as before. As Yoshiko hits the ball, the episode ends but we learn that Yoshiko actually returned to school to pursue a PhD in Sports. In 2021, The Starlings got back together and played their first full season. And to this day, the team continues to look for recruits.
