Farewell Party
Mayka begins the day by watching everyone wake up and prepare for their journey. It’s good news all round, as Ulises confirms that the boat is coming back and it’ll be here in the next day or so.
Aldo remains suspicious though, and Nico tries to convince Ibon to turn to his way of thinking. It doesn’t work though. At the same time, Zoa grows closer to Aldo, as they head out into the water to do some diving. ..
Bel’s story is a heart-wrenching reminder of the dangers of climate change. After her firing, she texts her friends about how the weather is changing and how people are being forced to leave their homes. She worries that this will only continue as global temperatures continue to rise. The party that night is a way for the kids to show their support for Bel and to say goodbye.
As Aldo watches the cultists move boxes, he becomes worried. He knows that they may be planning to steal something from the boat. He decides to take action and run away.
Ibon finishes his song as Alma kisses him. The Dj takes over, which happens to be Mayka, and she gets talking to Charly when he requests a song. He also learns that she’s the drone operator too. She plays him the song, and ushers him away. ..
Astrid leads her away from the party, where Aldo watches transpire. When Nico shows up with a bottle of Blue Eden, she tells Zoa she doesn’t have to drink it – but she does anyway.
Aldo tries to convince Charly to leave with him but he refuses. That’s pretty surprising to be honest, given he learns from Claudia (another Cultist) just prior to this that they’re not going to leave the island and all of this is a big ruse.
Aldo decides to investigate what’s going on. He slips on the boat and makes his way down to the island, where he meets several workers who are not really bothered by climate change. They claim that the Eden Foundation pay well and that they don’t have to worry about the effects of climate change. Aldo decides to investigate this further and finds out that there is more to this than meets the eye.
Gabi remains worried about her sister, who does not respond to her calls or messages. She speaks to her mother about this, who shrugs it off, believing she’ll pop up soon. Unfortunately that does nothing to help Gabi’s mood, who remains worried.
Africa is led up to Astrid’s place where she meets Erick, her partner. He talks about his family and, more specifically, how he was raised by his chauffeur Pedro given that his parents weren’t actually around. All of this works wonders to turn Africa around and support their cause. ..
Aldo wakes up in the hold of the boat after being shot by Brenda. He makes it to deck and finds himself at the mercy of Brenda, who holds a strange gun that looks like a telescope. She places it on Aldo’s forehead and pulls the trigger, killing him in cold blood.
The Episode Review
Welcome to Eden is a poorly executed show with stupid people. The premise is good, but the execution is poor because of this. We don’t know much about the characters and they are all one-dimensional.
The show is rife with manufactured romance, where characters engage in sex and drinking without any regard for the real-life implications of their actions on the people involved. Aldo, the only character who seems to care about these people’s well-being, is particularly frustrating to watch. This is especially true given that Charley was explicitly warned not to leave before Aldo interjected. ..
The ending of the show is certainly shocking, as Aldo now dead leaves four of the group left to fend for themselves. Will they survive? ..
