Is this not real magic?
In the fourth episode of She-Hulk, magician Donny Blaze fails to win over a crowd during his show. A portal drops a woman called Madisynn next to Wong, and when she ruins The Sopranos for him, Wong is not happy and wants to make him pay. ..
Blaze is at work when he gets a call from Jen Walters. She tells him that she’s been having a hard time finding someone to date and that she’s decided to create a dating profile for herself at work. When Blaze asks her how she’s doing, she tells him that it seems this is going to be the case of the week. Jen hands over her profile, telling him they’ll see each other in court.
That night, a man showed up to see Jen and Nikki while they were working in the bar. He offered to buy them drinks in a sleazy way. ..
Jen and Blaze head out on a number of different dates, interspersed around the court case with Madisynn. Wong regrettably calls on Madisynn for her statement, but it’s not enough to sway the courtroom. Blaze comes out victorious… at least for now. That night, Blaze does another trick and this time, a whole bunch of demons show up.
Jen is out on a date and refuses to answer her phone as this one’s going really well. That is, until Wong shows up personally and brings Jen in to help.
Jen She-Hulk complains the whole time though, unhappy that she’s missing out on her date with Bruce Banner. She does eventually show back up, after getting Blaze to agree to the cease and desist terms, and has sex with this random guy. In the morning though, Jen turns back into herself and this man immediately flakes out. Jen shrugs it off as a hot doctor cliché. ..
The news is that Titania has been freed from her cell and is now suing Jen for the name of She-Hulk which she apparently trademarked first. This could be a big problem for Jen as Titania has a lot of clout in the Marvel world.
The Episode Review
The dating part of the show is basic, too. The characters are all either in a relationship or trying to find one, and it’s never really interesting. The comedy is weak and the action is meh. This show needs to focus on its strengths and not try to do too many things at once.
The dating and slice of life drama for Jen is a bit of a letdown. The jokes aren’t particularly funny and the male characters are all either rude, stupid or horrible. This show could use some more excitement and interest.
I found the jokes in this episode to be stale and unoriginal. Hopefully next week’s episode is better! ..
