Day 36/14
The Wilds Season 2 Episode 3 starts with the boys again on Day 14. While they huddle together on the beach, they hear a guttural growl and fear for their livelihood. ..
Henry is the bearer of bad news, telling them all that the grim reaper is currently sharpening his scythe. So naturally, all the kids run into the water. ..
Back in the present, Gretchen and Daniel are both briefing Dean on what’s going on with their “Leah headache.” Gretchen makes the tactical choice of switching places with her subordinate and teams up with Dean for the latest interrogation, pointing out she can “draw blood from a stone.” ..
“Hey, I know you’re not the best at interrogations, but you can help us out by lying to us,” Scotty says to Bo. “In fact, I think you might even be better than me at this.”
The two friends, Scotty and Bo, decided to start up a business venture together by buying up a stack of discontinued designer Collab T-shirts. They plan to sell them for more money, as they have a history of being successful together. ..
Bo and Scotty drive to a local store to buy T-shirts. While there, Bo’s father finds a stain on the coffee table and worries that Bo has been with Scotty. Thankfully, both Bo and Scotty use a blow-dryer to clean the evidence.
A young man named Bo sells t-shirts from a makeshift stand in a park. Unfortunately, the shirts are completely soaked through and ruined. Bo’s father sees the t-shirts and ends up beating his son. This happens off-screen, but the purple bruise above Bo’s eye is evidence enough of this. ..
Seth speaks to Henry about his recent outbursts and how they’re causing the others to feel downbeat and worried. He also mentions how it’s important for him to show Henry that he can control the darkness inside him, and that seems to work. Seth tells the others that they’re family now. ..
The group eventually decides to hunker down on a ledge for now, where they can’t be attacked by the jaguar again. Bo is flustered, and it stems from him and Scotty having found a suitcase of food earlier in the season. ..
Bo is about to break his nine-year pact with Scotty and open up to the rest of the boys about what they’ve found. ..
Ivan tells the other guys that he’s been rummaging through Josh’s suitcase for his meds. After an earlier slur in “buttmunch,” this is Ivan’s retaliation.
Meanwhile, Toni is struggling with the fact that she’s falling out of love with her husband. She’s been trying to find a way to deal with it, but it’s hard. Her friends are all supportive, though, and they keep telling her that she should just give it up and move on. But she can’t do that.
Toni and Shelby have an important conversation too. The latter continues to follow Toni and make sure she’s okay, pointing out that she can’t stop seeing the falling tree. Toni reassures her, as the pair end up kissing again out in the woods. ..
Shelby sees the twinkling lights of a ship out on the horizon and realizes that her chances of getting their attention are slim given the fire isn’t burning too bright and it appears to be a long way away. ..
Scotty and Bo are determined to kill the jaguar before it kills them. ..
The Episode Review
The Wilds could have been good… if the pacing and ideas were more consistent. The timeline feels skewed between the boys and girls, which makes it difficult to follow the story. I honestly can’t help but feel this story would have worked better if they filmed it as solely the boys in season 2 and then added both the girls and boys together for a possible season 3. ..
In Lost, the island has been missing for three years and everyone is wondering where it is. The tail section of the island has been lost as well, but we are only getting snippets of what happened on the main island. We don’t know what happened to the main island and how it got lost.
It’s unfortunate because the ideas are definitely here and you can see what the writers are trying to do, but the execution is shaky and it doesn’t work that well. Personally, I’d rather just have another season with the girls! ..
