Dead In Kos

The sun flare causes chaos on communications, as all the soldiers head up to the surface and depart from the sub to try and message their loved ones. However, Defne has a satellite video message from Kenan, depicting panic gripping the streets.

As the soldiers for the S-245 line up in the dock, they are given a new mission to try and track down a shelter. While they’re briefed, Felix and Cem head off and try to fix the electrics. Of course, it’s a race against time given the sun is due to rise in 3 and a half hours.

Defne and Arman head off in their car, Umut Sancakli joining them. There is tension between them as they drive. ..

In Kos, a random fire rages from the truck while many of the characters are strewn out across the floor. They’re dead. None of them are burnt to a crisp, despite Arman mentioning how they’ve combusted internally. One of the officers, Baris, ends up losing his mind.

As Felix and Cem bicker about their destination, they eventually uncover an abandoned mess with electrical wires fried and sparks sporadically going off.

Cem is having a hard time concentrating because he has a baggy in his pocket. Felix takes over and solves the problem. ..

Rana is the only person on this expedition who hasn’t gone off on a big adventure. She’s scared and believes she’s going to die.

The soldiers discuss the dive scheduled for the night before. They are lucky to have escaped the flare that has been going off for weeks. ..

The Yakamoz submarine followed their sub as they flashed up on the sonar, hence their little sneak attack. ..

Arman and the gang find a survivor in the bank vault. The man is rambling in Ancient Greek and apparently survived because he’s underground and this place is made of lead. However, Umut shoots the man when he becomes agitated and appears to be losing his mind. ..

Armat is shocked but Umut chalk it up to a merciful killing and leaves.

As the sun rises, the soldiers all decide to leave. As they evacuate and head back to the Yakamoz, they grant Defne and Arman 30 minutes to try and find Kenan before they leave. They hold out hope that they can find him.

Felix manages to get the power back on, which quickly gets the phones working too. I mean, that’s not how that works but let’s run with it.

The evac signal wails from the speakers across town, mentioning a shelter in Tigaki. That’s their destination! The people of Tigaki are being evacuated to the shelter in nearby Igaki.

Defne and Arman arrive at the shelter and find the bodies. Apparently, they’re all dead but they look pretty alive to me. They don’t even check anyone’s pulse either!

Kenan screams from the sun’s flare, and it seems to be evidence enough that he is alive.

Rana is excited to hear that her scientists have found a way to explain the strange phenomena happening around the sun. She is determined to find out what caused the change and prevent it from happening again.

The sun’s polarity has changed and it would appear that that time is upon them. This explains why the sun has released a huge gamma ray that’s threatening those on Earth.

Armat and Defne race back in time before the sun rises, hoping to prevent the submarine from sinking.

As the power goes out, soldiers in town are stuck behind bars as they try to loot the bank vault.

As the episode reaches its crescendo, Armat and Defne pound on the top of the sub as the Yakamoz looks set to dive.

Umut confronts Arman after losing men today, accusing him of causing the deaths of his comrades. Arman denies any involvement and Umut remains unimpressed.

The Episode Review

Some shows are made on a very thin budget, but make-up wouldn’t go amiss on these victims, would it? ..

Sun’s flare has wiped out the characters in the photo, even though they are wearing some makeup to show they are burnt or blackened. ..

I remember that Into The Night handled the situation well. I was relieved to see that Kenan and the others were safe and sound in the shelter. ..

The Yakamoz S-245 is a concept car that is based on the idea of a self-healing car. It is designed to be able to fix itself if it gets damaged in any way. Of course, with a concept like this you do need to take a lot of the science and ideas with a pinch of salt – Yakamoz S-245 is no exception. The car is still in development, and there are many unanswered questions about how it would work in practice. However, if it can actually manage to work as promised, it could be a very exciting new technology. ..

The show is a little wonky with its science and the characters feel quite one-dimensional. At least they do at the moment anyway. As a quick and disposable bit of sci-fi action, fans of Into The Night should be in their element with this one.
