The movie “The Help” is full of humor. Some jokes are obvious, but others are more subtle. The writer does a good job of making the jokes interesting even when the plot takes a predictable turn.
The performances in this movie are what make it work. Weaving is already a talented comedic actress, and she’s funny here. Derbez is also an able comedian, and he’s better in The Valet than he was in Overboard and How To Be A Latin Lover, two unfunny “comedies” that were vastly unworthy of his talents. ..
