This film is not good. The direction is uninspired, the plotting is often contrived, the dialogue is ridiculous, and narrative logic is often thrown overboard. If you’re looking for a quality production, I would have to say no. But if you’re looking for a movie to watch with your mates on a Friday night, your time might not be completely wasted, as this could be considered enjoyably trashy if you’re in the right frame of mind.
Ruby Rose stars in the new movie “The Yacht” as Bella Denton, a young woman who inherits a yacht after her father dies. Bella is less than thrilled about her inheritance gift but when she discovers it is a luxury yacht complete with a jacuzzi, she begins to appreciate the vessel that her father has left for her. ..
She wakes up to find the boat has left the harbour and is now on its way out to sea. She’s not sure what happened, but she’s sure that three men got on board and are trying to get her money. She’s also worried about the mercenaries, who may be after her money or something else. The captain seems like he’s just trying to help out, but she can’t be sure. Either way, she needs to find a way back home before they catch up with her and take her money.
The film’s premise is interesting but the movie never lives up to it. The action is very slow and there is very little suspense because the director does nothing to make the tension come alive.
The movie is full of inconsistencies and nonsensical plot points. For example, one scene features a group of armed mercs chasing Bella and inexplicably opening a refrigerator to see if she is inside. This scene is ridiculous but it’s also one of the reasons why the film will be watchable to somebody who gets their kicks from watching a bad movie.
Ruby Rose is an actress with some talent, but she has been given few good roles. You may remember her from movies like Vanquish and The Doorman, both of which were released in 2021, as well as SAS: Red Notice, which was released in 2018. Her latest movie, Stowaway, does not do her any favors and there are those who believe that her performance is wooden. However, the script is the biggest problem with this movie. If Ruby Rose had better lines of dialogue and more character development, I think she could have done a better job with her role. Direction would also have helped. As it is, she has very little to work with and so her resume becomes muddied with another bad movie. ..
The movie is decent, despite some weaknesses. The performances by Frank Grillo and Patrick Schwarzenegger are good, but the rest of the cast is not so great. Luis Da Silva Jr. does a good job in his role as Captain Lawson, but the other actors do not fare as well.
The biggest issue with the film is that we never really believe Bella is in danger. The men who chase her come across like bumbling buffoons rather than trained killers, so there is nothing to make us worry for her safety. There is one fight scene between her and one of the mercs but as it’s choreographed so poorly, you will be sorely disappointed if you’re expecting something visceral and pulse-pounding.
Despite the flaws, “The Fault in Our Stars” is a heartwarming and entertaining film. The ending is satisfying, despite some cringe-worthy dialogue. The plot contrivances and acting are also humorous.
The movie is slow and uneventful, with little excitement or suspense. ..
A stowaway ending is when a character leaves the scene of a story, usually to avoid being caught. Sometimes this happens because the character wants to avoid getting in trouble or because they want to explore the story more. In some cases, the character may have been kidnapped and then forced to leave their home.
