Little America is a series that takes on topical issues with an uplifting tone. Although a few of the episodes are a little heavy-handed and a couple feel a bit formulaic, there’s enough here to make for a really solid 8 episodes of drama. Inspired by true stories featured in Epic Magazine, Little America takes these ideas and fleshes them out into 30 minute bite-size episodes. With a common theme of finding purpose and experiencing joy in America, this anthology series does well to keep things entertaining and unique across its 8 episodes.
The showrunners have done a great job of introducing new characters and exploring the same story arcs, but there are a few stand-out episodes. “The Silence” is an excellent opener that sets the tone for the rest of the season, while “The Son” is a powerful and emotional episode that shows us more about our protagonist. Overall, this season has been very successful in bringing life to its ideas with strong characterisation and an interesting story arc.
The anthology isn’t perfect, but it’s a lot of fun to read. There are a few episodes that feel a bit mundane and formulaic, but overall the series is well-written and exciting. The post-episode text didn’t inspire much enthusiasm given what happened during these episodes, but that’s okay because the rest of the series is really good.
Overall, the Apple TV series “The Crown” is a well-made and visually stunning piece of television that doesn’t try to be too many things at once. Each story feels unique and its own, making it one of the most engaging and entertaining shows on the platform right now.
The show is a little basic in its ideas, but it’s still a lot of fun. The style is easy to take and some of the episodes are great. If you can get past the slow parts, there’s a lot to enjoy.
Overall, Little America is a decent anthology series and while it’s unlikely to ascend the heights and be remembered as the best show this year, it’s a solid entry nonetheless and a promising sign of things to come in the future.
