13,000
The prisoner in episode 1 of Tehran Season 2 begins his sentence in Evin Prison, Tehran. He is given some clothes, but inside the fabric, he finds a pill with a note reading 13,000. He begins to count up to that very number as he rocks back and forth.
Tamar is trying to stay safe by living under the radar with her boyfriend Milad. They’re stuck in Tehran, but the risk of being spotted is an ever-present danger. When Milad leaves the apartment, he’s watched by dangerous, shadowy men as he communicates with Azizi, a drug dealer. Milad is under pressure to sell his drugs but is clearly feeling the heat.
Tamar is told that the time has come for her to go and she is asked if she knows where Yulia is. She responds that she does not, but knows that the Mossad agent is in control of the situation. Tamar is then taken to an abandoned warehouse and told to sit in front of a laptop, where she communicates with Yulia.
Tamar is tasked with saving Milad. She has two months to find him and bring him back alive. If she fails, her team will be killed. Tamar has a strict agreement with her pilot: if he’s extracted, then she’ll kill him.
This morning, we learned that General Qasem Mohammadi, the new Commander of the Revolutionary Guards, is en route to the Supreme Leader’s office. This move comes as a surprise given that he only just received his Major General insignia. Given this information, it’s likely that something important is about to happen at this address.
Faraz arrives at the restaurant to see Ali, who tells him that Milad and Tamar are still in town. Faraz is adamant that they are still there, and Ali reminds him that he has other targets to follow.
The man counting up to 13,000 collapses on the ground, foaming at the mouth when he reaches the fateful number. All the powers goes off completely. So in order to take this prisoner to safety, they’re driven out to a different hospital – Ayandegan. This is, if you’ll remember, the hospital we saw glimpses of at the start of the episode.
Faraz races to the hospital, only to realize that the prisoner he’s looking for is not the one he thought he was. He urges Ali to get to the OR and find the pilot, only to find out that the man he’s looking for is instead Tamar. Only, this time, he’s not getting where he wants to go.
With the help of Tamar and Yulia, the agents manage to take down the real pilot and return to their base.
After the successful completion of their mission, Yulia shows Tamar the way to safety, including taking a long hallway all the way down until she heads outside and into a taxi driven by a man who is about to take her wherever she needs to go. ..
Tamar rings Milad, who confirms he’s going to the money and is about to pay off Azizi and then they’ll be able to go. When Milad realizes Tamar has “gone back to them” (Mossad, that is) he’s unsure what to do. Unfortunately, in his deliberation Faraz happens to spot him and decides to follow in his car.
Qasem Mohammadi, the general who led the Mossad’s response to the hospital attack, sends a clear message: anyone who helps the traitors will be punished.
The Episode Review
Tehran’s new season kicked off with an exciting opening episode. General Mohammadi sent a message to Tamar and the others through killing prisoners, which made their whole operation more difficult. Tamar and the others will almost certainly be desperate for revenge, and it sends a clear message to Mossad. ..
The first few scenes of the chapter are well-shot and dramatic, with a story that so far looks like it will be very exciting. Faraz is still determined to find Tamar, and the conflict is not yet over. The rest of the season looks like it will be very dramatic, with Tehran starting off well. We’ll have to wait and see where the rest of this one goes but for now, it looks like things are off to a good start in Tehran. ..
