This is a story about a group of young Koreans who have been taken advantage of by a powerful man, and the lengths he will go to get what he wants from them. He has threatened to expose their secrets if they don’t do what he wants, and they have no choice but to comply. They are in for a long and harrowing journey as they try to escape this dark place, where anything can happen at any time.
The app was used to facilitate sexual abuse by two people who were known to be powerful and influential in the country. This allowed them to get away with molesting and coercing victims for years, until finally being caught and brought to justice.
As the cybercrime case gains more traction, JTBC’s Spotlight team interviews various investigators, reporters and “Team Flame” who end up becoming an integral part of taking down the ringleaders behind all of this.
The film’s main focus is on the victims, but it also follows the detectives who are working the case. The detectives are very human and their interactions with the victims are very real. This makes for a very gripping watch.
This documentary is incredibly immersive, and alongside the usual array of talking head interviews are some animated cutaways to abstractly suggest some of the more grotesque acts that these victims were forced to carry out. ..

The film follows the case of two men, who were arrested after being caught with a video camera in their car, and how their ordeal has changed Korean law since they were first reported.
