A Definite 365/10
The film follows the same basic plot as 2020’s original, with a young woman (played by newcomer Astrid Bergès-Frisbey) who is sent to a remote cabin in the woods to recover from an injury. Instead, she ends up spending her time exploring her sexuality and falling in love with the man who owns the cabin (played by Jean-Pierre Léaud). Unfortunately, this love affair is cut short when she is forced to leave the cabin and return to society. While 365 Days: This Day may not be as groundbreaking as its predecessor, it is still a well-made film that will keep you entertained for hours on end. If you’re looking for something new and exciting to watch, this is definitely it. ..
This Day is a slow-paced, unenlightening film that will leave you feeling frustrated and bored by the end. The plot is thin and the characters are one-dimensional, making this a film you won’t want to watch again.
Laura and Massimo’s relationship is strained because of Massimo’s job. His work starts to get in the way, given he’s a gangster. Laura wants to have better days when she was kidnapped and forced to fall in love with him over 365 days.
Laura is attracted to Nacho, but she’s worried about how her relationship with Massimo will look if she starts dating him. She decides to run away and end things with him before it gets too complicated.
However, conversations on the beach seem to depict that there is something else going on. Is Nacho running some sort of shady gardening business on the side? Is he importing super-powered lawnmowers from abroad? Could he be making a fortune selling garden gear to middle-aged dads wearing sandals and socks, admiring their new barbecues for the summer? Or is there something else going on? All will be revealed! ..
The story is a bit of a letdown, with little to no real development or excitement. The movie feels like it’s trying to be something it’s not, and the result is a bit of an embarrassment.
365 Days This Day is an odd show. The middle portion drags, with Nacho getting to know Laura and the story becoming less interesting as viewers figure out he’s not selling thousands of lawnmowers on the black market. The dialogue is often cringe-worthy too. ..
As a result, the telenovela-style writing and poor editing makes the show feel like a bad rip-off of erotica thrillers. Despite this, we will continue to watch part 3 because “this is cinema.” In the words of Martin Scorsese, “This is cinema.” ..
