Santa Arrives
In the third episode of Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) Season 3, Hye-Ryung is spooked and hurries out the house.
After seeing Song-Won’s ghost, Sa-Hyeon is not hanging around. The ghost does though, and even sits with Sa-Hyeon while he’s in the living room. Later on, we see the ghost eating doughnuts.
Dong-Mi heads home after the Ki-Rim ghost episode and hands over some gifts to give to Ji-A. She even praises Pi-Young and gives her a hug. This is pretty bizarre behavior and something that immediately sees Pi-Young ring A-Mi, telling her she was acting strangely. ..
A-Mi opens up and admits that she left with Ji-A, after reciting a poem about not wanting to see Yu-Shin again. Although Yu-Shin is understandably not happy, they’re both interrupted by Dong-Mi showing up with gifts for them both, doing her best to be sympathetic to her needs.
Yu-Shin is called away by Hae-Ryun, who takes him out for drinks. The pair gossip about Si-Eun’s marriage, with Hae-Ryun worried about the man her ex is dating. ..
Yu-Shin is tasked with looking into this more closely for his boss.
Meanwhile, Seo-Ban’s father shows up to see him, although they clearly don’t have a relationship. He asks a few questions about Si-Eun but Seo-Ban is cold and standoffish, knowing that he probably won’t approve of her. ..
The father of Seo-Ban, who is not happy with his choice to date someone like Si-Eun, admits that he is speechless and unhappy with the idea of having kids.
Dong-Ma seems to be a bit of a stalker, and Seo-Ban is trying to come up with a way to dissuade them from getting married. Dong-Ma seems unhappy with the idea and tries to come up with a way to change Seo-Ban’s mind.
Dong-Ma admits that he’s already tried talking to his brother, but that hasn’t worked. However, it’s fair to say he’ll probably keep up this charade and mess up the wedding in some way.
Si-Eun and Seo-Ban are getting along well with U-Ram and Hyang-Ki, but Ji-A is not taking the news well.
Ji-A is sitting at dinner with her friends Pi-Young and A-Mi. Pi-Young tells her that she can’t control her heart and that who she loves, in that respect, doesn’t blame her. Ji-A admits to them that she feels the same way about A-Mi.
Yu-Shin heads over to try and patch things up with Ji-A, but he has an ulterior motive – he wants to know about Seo-Ban. Through Pi-Young, he learns who Seo-Ban is and eventually stops questioning him. ..
When Yu-Shin leaves, Dong-Ma arrives dressed as Santa Claus to her door. He hugs her tightly, who admits that she missed him.
Dong-Ma drops off a whole stack of gifts for her and Ji-A, including cakes, socks and a massive teddy. Ji-A is excited to receive the gifts and messages Dong-Mi to ask if she can come along to go to a hotel with her. After what happened to Pi-Young’s mum, she’s taking no chances and decides to go. ..
The group of friends set out on a road trip to enjoy the winter season. Ji-A is open to a new relationship, and the gang starts skiing together. Yu-Shin and A-Mi enjoy their time together, and Ji-A decides that this is the perfect opportunity for her to get to know them better.
Dong-Ma sees a picture of Pi-Young’s leg on her phone while she’s in the bath, and decides to send her a message to show his love.
Pi-Young goes out with Dong-Ma to try on rings and necklaces. Dong-Ma is able to afford the jewellery, and Pi-Young seems happy with it. ..
Dong-Ma admits that he wants to get married quickly, deciding to rush through everything and admitting he doesn’t want to hang around and wait. He even checks notes admits that he likes hearing her scream.
After their night together, Dong-Ma drove her home and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He also told her to stop moving her mouth how she is, hugging her as she’s about to shut the door. ..
Dong-Mi begins cutting her hair off in the middle of the night, scissors in hand.
The Episode Review
After watching Pi-Young fall for Dong-Ma, I now understand why so many people were swooning for Ted Bundy. The man is a straight-up creep who preyed on young girls.
Dong-Ma barely knows Pi-Young, is eager to date her and get to know her, stalks her all over a fairground, makes her visibly uncomfortable until she’s broken and then decides they’re going to get married immediately. Pi-Young is the love of his life.
After their kiss, Pi-Young has decided she likes Dong-Ma. This could be construed as assault, especially if she didn’t like it. ..
The two girls seem to have little in common, with Seo-Ban seeming distant and Si-Eun being chatty. It’s not that the chemistry between them is bad, it’s just not as strong as it is between Seo-Ban and Si-Eun. ..
Si-Eun and Seo-Ban’s story does fare a little better which is good, but even then the show has issues balancing that with more interesting drama and a consistent storyline right the way through. ..
The season is falling apart, and it’s hard to watch. But somehow, it’s still watchable. So who knows what next week will bring? We’ll have to wait and see. ..
