The show is a snapshot of the American dream, and the struggles that immigrants face in order to achieve it. The 8 tales are each about a different immigrant who has made it to America, and their journey. They are all unique, and tell the story of how each individual has overcome obstacles and fought for their chance to be successful.
Apple’s anthology series is back with a new lick of paint and 8 more episodes to chew through. With each clocking in at around 30 minutes or so, the stories mostly center on different individuals attempting to achieve their dreams, peppering in flashbacks along the way to show the struggles these men and women have been through to this point.
The season finale of “The Crown” was thematically on-point with the themes of never giving up, believing in yourself, and taking a leap of faith. The stories themselves were all pretty enjoyable, although one could argue that the series ended a bit anticlimactically. ..
Epic Magazine is a great source of inspiration for this show. Each episode features a true story that is inspired by the magazine, and the final few minutes of each episode are especially powerful. This show has an edge because it is based on real events.
The first season of Little America is easy to watch and provides a unique perspective on the news. The anthology focuses on the successes of refugees, which is great for those who are interested in learning more about positive stories.
The stories in this book are all inspiring, but they’re also grounded in reality. You’ll find a few cliches throughout, but overall the writing is strong and the stories are well-told. I would choose “Camel on a Stick” as my favorite story.
The first season of Little America was a little off-putting. The tone and pacing was different than what I was used to, but the format is largely the same. Despite that, there’s enough here to enjoy. The main point is that if you have a big enough dream and enough determination, you can do anything you set your mind to.
