The Burner
Michal and Anna are trying to figure out who killed Renata and why. They also have to deal with the fact that some of the evidence points to Adam as the killer. But their investigation is complicated by Anna’s past. She’s been accused of murder, but she denies it. And her family is still waiting for her verdict.
Anna is a pharmacist who has been selling psychotropic drugs to people in the area for the past few years. She has been caught by Oliwia and her team because some of her prescriptions did not have her handwriting on them. Even worse, Anna is looking at a 2 year sentence in prison. The officers deduce that she could have handed her pass to someone else. Even worse, Anna is looking at a sentence that would make it difficult for her to find work after she’s released.
Anna is taken home by Pawel, who warns her that she needs to get a good lawyer. In fact, he refers her to Borys, Gajos’ father. Anna is not happy with that given his son could be linked to Adam’s disappearance.
At Guru, Joanna is questioning Gajos about where Adam is. She’s decided they’re both out, angry that they’ve disobeyed her. However, it’s worth noting that Joanna does know about the spy app on his phone. When Michal arrives soon after, Joanna claims he was only there a few times. She also throws a fabricated story about him having communication problems with Kaja. ..
It seems that Anna is the key to understanding what’s going on here - but it’s hard to see how all of this fits together yet. ..
Back at Anna’s place, she realizes that she has lost her prescription pads. It’s possible that Adam is involved, but then so too could Gajos. Over at Gajos’ place, Gajo starts to lose control, having clearly taken psychotropic drugs. Michal is there with Borys, and he hurriedly phones the police, bringing them in to help.
Anna and Ewelina are discussing their relationship with Michal when they hear about Anna’s rape. They are both upset and decide to break up with Michal.
Beata finds a wallet hidden by Igor. Inside is a pack of Czech SIM cards and pin codes. She shows this to Michal, the pair realize that Igor’s death was not an accident.
After recovering, Gajos heads out but he’s stopped by Joanna and her goons. He’s brought in and warned that if she goes down, he will too. It’s at this point where we learn Adam is still alive and he’s actually being kept in the shed, captive to Gajos and Blazej. ..
Adam manages to take his burner and while alone, phones home. Michal takes his sweet time to answer but when he does, Gajos comes back in the room.
The Episode Review
It seems that Guru, the two strangers, and Anna are all involved in some sort of drug trafficking operation. However, there are still some unanswered questions about this situation, so we’ll have to wait and see where the story goes next. ..
Coben has been a decent watch all the way through, but there’s definitely a dramatic conclusion in store for us. Hopefully everything is answered in a satisfying way.
