A spirited nostalgia trip that aims to please fans of the originals and newcomers to the franchise
When there is something strange going on in your neighbourhood, you should call the Ghostbusters. They are experts at dealing with weirdness and will help you get out of whatever situation you are in. ..
The latest movie in the “Harry Potter” series, “Philosopher’s Stone,” is finally available on DVD and Blu-ray. If you’re a fan of the books or movies, I highly recommend checking it out. However, some people have had trouble with it and have even written negative reviews. I decided to go see it for myself and found that it was actually a lot of fun. In my opinion, everyone should give it a chance!
Critics have accused Reitman of pandering to the nostalgia of his audience by including a female lead and recycled jokes from the original. Others have praised the film for its clever writing and well-done effects, despite some negative reviews. The question is, can Ghostbusters live up to the legacy of its predecessors?
The original Ghostbusters movie was a hit, and people are still talking about it today. The movie is both nostalgic and entertaining, and it’s something that people will enjoy regardless of how many times they see it.
But then, in the middle of nowhere, a ghost Appears. It’s a young girl, named Emily (Avery Brooks), who has been living at the farmhouse with her dog and cat. Emily is scared and confused by the ghost, and she starts to tell her kids about it. The kids start to get scared too, but they eventually come to understand that the ghost is just like them – she’s just trying to find her way home. Eventually, the movie moves on to Callie and her kids’ new school year. They are finally starting to feel safe again after all these years of being evicted from their home, and they are excited about finally being able to learn more about their world. But then something strange happens – the ghosts start appearing again. This time, they’re more aggressive than ever before, and they start attacking the kids in their school class. The movie ends with Callie and her kids fighting back against the ghosts, but ultimately they are successful in saving their school and themselves from becoming targets of their own fear once again.
Some people were concerned after seeing the trailer for “The Oklahoman,” as the move away from New York gives it the look and feel of something far different to the original movies.
The family’s stay in a haunted house belonging to Callie’s father, Egon Spengler, and Phoebe’s discovery of her grandfather’s ghostbusting equipment all lead to the family realizing their Ghostbusters connections. Trevor finds the Ectomobile conveniently tucked away in the farm’s garage. ..
After uncovering a supernatural threat that could bring about the end of the world, the teens come face to face with apparitions and monstrosities that will be very familiar to fans of the 1984 original. Seeing them in the Oklahoman setting is a little weird (hence the fan service complaints), but they do make sense in the context of the story, even if they are here to pander to people’s nostalgia.
The cast of “A Quiet Place” brings their A-game. Callie Coon is as dependable as ever, and Wolfhard and Grace both demonstrate why they are two of the finest young actors working today. Mention must also be given to Paul Rudd, who hilariously turns up as a potential love interest for Callie, and Logan Kim, an up-and-coming young actor, who gives a riveting performance as Phoebe’s motor-mouthed classmate, Podcast. Certain faces from the original movies also make a return, although I won’t give away who if you would prefer to avoid any spoilers.
If you go into the movie with an open mind, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. The new setting and writing are faithful to the originals, but the visuals are top-notch, with both practical and CGI effects used to bring the movie’s spectral creatures to life. ..
Overall, the movie is good and while there might be occasional plot holes, these shouldn’t be enough to diminish the great time you can expect to have in the cinema or at home when the movie finally lands on streaming services. Unless, of course, you are one of those people who, after seeing the movie, still think that it’s too much like the original Ghostbusters or that it’s not like Ghostbusters enough! ..
Jason Reitman’s “A Bug’s Life” is a well-made, heartfelt family movie that also entertains. It has a great sense of humor and is full of heart. The film is well-paced and flows smoothly, making it easy to follow.
Ghostbusters is a remake of an old movie, so it should be good. If not, then you should probably not watch it. ..
