The Wooga Squad is a group of friends who formed together in 2016 on the show Hwarang. Park Seo-joon, Park Hyung-sik, and Kim Taehyung all worked together on the show K-drama Shut Up Family and then went to the same high school. But if we hang around, we may hear a bit more of the detail on what sealed their little family and keeps them making the effort to group up.

In the Soop: Friendcation Friends

The unwitting friends of the group-presumed role of Unwitting Friendcationers are people who just don’t understand how social media works. They think that because they’re friends with everyone in the group, they must be cool and intelligent. But this is not always the case. Sometimes, the friends of the Unwitting Friendcationers just don’t understand how social media works and think that they’re being funny or clever when they’re really just being mean to others.

Park Seo-joon (Captain Marvel 2: The Marvels) is the father and emotional anchor. Park Hyung-sik (Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Suits, Juror 8) is the kind mom, a little softer than dad. Choi Woo-shik (Parasite, Our Beloved Summer, Time to Hunt) is the trustworthy older son, leader of the kids. Kwon Sung-hwan (rapper/singer/producer Peakboy known for Gin&Tonic and last summer’s Gyopo Hairstyle) is the wild youngest daughter, always pumped up. Kim Taehyung (BTS’ V, and also appeared in Hwarang, BTS In The Soop) is the cute & mischievous youngest sibling. ..

Have we got the full complement?

The first day of the film is a blur for most of the characters. Day 2 starts with the guys all being there and it quickly becomes clear that they have a lot in common. They can switch roles easily, filling any gap that is needed. It’s interesting to see how their personalities change as they work together, and whether either is a middle child. We won’t leave you hanging though – both Hyung-sik and Woo-shik have older brothers.

Who’s the most surprising as an ‘off-screen’ view?

The group of boys lynching Seo-joon are much quieter than imagined. He says very little but his presence is palatable – like a father figure observing the kids’ playtime. As the others chit-chat, they check for his reaction, awaiting concurrence. And so far it isn’t much more than a nod or quiet comment. Often it feels more like he’s observing rather than participating with the occasional jump into the fun.

Meanwhile, Parasite is leading Woo-shik around like a puppy. But at home with the guys, he’s just as fumbly as the rest of us. And practically exploding with his desire to do more, be more. It’s lovely to watch and extremely relatable.

How are these guys connected again?
