Superman II
In 1980, a similar issue plagued Superman II’s production. A group of filmmakers working on the movie were struggling to come up with a story that would make sense within the context of the larger DC Comics universe. They eventually decided to create a sequel to Superman II instead, which many consider an odd choice.
In 2006, 26 years after the original release of Superman II, a different cut of the movie was released. This version was much lighter in tone and had a more comedic feel. It took decades for this version to be released, and it is still not widely known or appreciated.
The story of the three criminals from Krypton who have been released and descending on Earth is continuing in Superman: The Movie. Lex Luthor, who was imprisoned for years, has decided to use them to his advantage in order to destroy Superman.
This movie is a fun ride that is worth checking out.
Avengers: Infinity war
Infinity War is a compelling and well written story rife with tension and high-stakes. The first part of an otherwise 2-movie story, Infinity War is a well paced and engaging way to introduce new characters and set up future events. ..
In a film that spans the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Infinity War is a story of family, love, and duty. It’s a film that tells the story of Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his quest to collect all six Infinity Stones, which will allow him to create an empire that will dwarf even the Avengers. The film also features appearances by many of Marvel’s biggest names, including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), and Tom Hiddleston (Loki).
As the ship docks in Wakanda, the crew is preparing for their next mission. They are excited to finally be able to stop Thanos and his forces from taking the Stones, but they soon realize that something is off. The ship’s captain, a woman named Sif, tells them about a powerful being who has been following them for months and who she believes is Thanos. She warns the crew that if they don’t stop him, he will take the Stones and become the most powerful being in the Universe. The team decides to take on Thanos alone and head to Wakanda. They are quickly met with resistance from their enemies, but they manage to defeat them all before reaching Thanos himself. He tells them that he doesn’t need the Stones and that he can become even more powerful than ever before by taking control of the Infinity Gauntlet. The team is shocked at this news and decides to let him go, but Sif warns them once again about what could happen if they don’t stop him. The team returns home with some of their wounds healed and with new resolve knowing that they must continue fighting against anyone who would try to harm them or take away their stones.
The future of the universe hangs in the balance as Thanos and his children collect all the stones. This is easily one of the best Marvel movies released. The heroes on Earth and across the void of space join up in a bid to stop Thanos and his children from collecting all the stones, but if they are successful, the future of the universe itself hangs in the balance.
Avengers: Endgame
Endgame is a highly enjoyable way to close out Phase 3 of Marvel’s big-screen universe. The story is well-told and the characters are well-developed, making it a great finale to an enjoyable series.
In the aftermath of the events of Avengers: Infinity War, the remaining survivors of Earth band together to destroy Thanos once and for all. With hope of collecting the Infinity Stones and snapping everyone they’ve lost back into existence, they set out to find and destroy him.
In a devastating way, the truth is revealed and the group comes up with a new plan to stop Thanos and reverse everything that’s happened before. They remain determined to stop him and make sure that the future is better.
In this follow-up to Marvel’s blockbuster “Infinity War,” the Russo brothers continue to tell a story that feels like it could have been written by the team themselves. The action is intense and well- choreographed, with a satisfying conclusion that leaves you feeling satisfied after watching.
Justice League (2017)
Although tonally different, the main story in Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League still sticks to the same story beats as Joss Whedon’s re-edit. For that reason, it makes sense to add it onto this list. Whether you love or hate this version, watching this close to the Snyder cut certainly helps to see what differences were made.
The story is essentially the same, with Batman enlisting the various Justice League members to thwart the threat of Steppenwolf. With lots of Marvel humour and no Darkseid this time, Justice League plays out as a stripped down version of Snyder’s cut. This one is very much a love/hate affair though.
Justice League: Doom
Doom is a movie that takes its time to explore the characters and their relationships, and it’s one of the more interesting ones on this list. It’s also one of the most visually stunning, with some amazing set pieces.
Vandal Savage is a supervillain who raids the Batcave to uncover documents detailing all the weaknesses for the League. With this in his possession, Savage assembles a team of super villains with personal vendettas against the League members.
Batman saves the day when he finds out that Savage’s master plan is to destroy the Earth.
This animated movie is well worth checking out for its interesting story and the way Batman is made the central character. ..
Avengers: Assemble
Since its release, Avengers has been praised by fans and critics alike for its well-executed action sequences, likable characters, and clever writing. It remains one of the most popular superhero movies of all time. ..
The story of how Nick Fury recruited Captain America and the other world’s greatest heroes to stop Loki is a complex and compelling one. It revolves around the idea that sometimes the most important thing is coming together to do what’s right, no matter who or what you are. The team set out on a journey to stop Loki, and they did it in style - with some amazing teamwork.
Avengers: Assemble is easily one of the best Marvel movies. It has a lot of action, a consistent story and a nicely balanced pace. ..
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
The extended cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a better way to watch the movie. ..
The marketing for this movie billed an epic showdown between Batman and Superman. In reality, this movie plays out like a glorified prequel to Justice League. While the action is certainly exciting, the story feels like it was rushed to meet a release date. ..
Superman’s public image has been damaged after the destruction of Metropolis. Many people see Batman as a better option to take on Superman, who they believe is a danger to society. ..
The Justice League is a team of superheroes who fight against evil. However, their grudge match is interrupted by Lex Luthor, who plots to destroy mankind. While all this is going on, Diana Prince (Woman Woman) gets mixed up in the action too. All of this leads up to a big fight at the end with a monstrous artificially-bred creature called Doomsday, leaving big questions for the Justice League to answer. ..
Critics panned Batman V Superman as a terrible movie, but many fans love it. ..
Aquaman
Aquaman is a well-made movie that does enough to right the sinking ship of the DC universe. While it pales in comparison to The Dark Knight or Wonder Woman, Aquaman does enough to make up for its deficiencies.
Arthur is the Atlantean who is destined to unite the armies of Atlantis and bridge the gap between the surface world and the sea.
Skip forward to present day and our story sees Arthur called into action as the threat of war looms on the horizon. Arthur’s half brother King Orm wages war on the surface, calling forth the service of Manta, who’s hell-bent on revenge after an early run in with Arthur on board a submarine. Arthur is tasked with stopping King Orm’s forces from invading another country, but he soon discovers that Manta is also after him. Can Arthur stop his half brother before it’s too late? ..
Arthur is on a quest to find a legendary trident that he believes will help him defeat the forces of Atlantis and Manta. While the story itself is well told, it is pretty predictable stuff. The only thing that makes it stand out from the rest is the final battle, which features some of the most impressive action sequences I’ve ever seen in an Aquaman movie. Despite its predictability, Aquaman still manages to be a fun ride.
Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox
The Flash is a fast-paced, action-packed animated adventure that takes the reigns of the animated movie world. Despite some questionable animation, this heady, timeline-distorting plot puts The Flash squarely in the driver’s seat for this well written movie.
In an alternate timeline, the Justice League never formed and a bitter war rages between Wonder Woman and Aquaman. The only hope to restoring the world comes from Flash teaming up with Batman and Cyborg. ..
With a lot of action and a really interesting look at this new world, Flashpoint Paradox is definitely one of DC’s better animated projects. It’s a must-watch for fans of the company’s comics and animation divisions.
Watchmen
Watchmen is an excellent superhero film that is also very thought-provoking. It asks important questions about humanity, and is a must-see for fans of the genre. ..
As the film progresses, we learn more about the Watchmen and their members, as well as the reasons for their disbanding. We also follow one of the members as he tries to find a new home andvenge his murder. The film culminates with a confrontation between the Watchmen and Nixon’s forces, in which our hero finally kills him.
In this thrilling new series, Rorschach must team up with his old crime-fighting legion to stop a sinister plot that threatens the future of all superheroes. As they uncover a shocking conspiracy, they must work together to prevent an entire city from being destroyed.
This movie is a great example of Zack Snyder’s usual filmmaking style, but it still remains a fantastic film.
